we have been sooo utterly exhausted (or, as i just spelled out in my mind, egg-sauce-ted) since the wedding. first i was sick all day on saturday after dropping alexa at the airport (bad food? stomach bug? nerves? speeding ticket on the way home after dropping alexa? you decide). then, after seeing the rest of the family off on sunday and monday in the early morning, ben and i spent our july 4th holiday sleeping. getting married is no joke! it's completely wiped us out. it was all i could do to get myself to work on tuesday and today. is this why we're supposed to take a honeymoon?!
but, this evening, anneanne (ben's grandmother, who lives in australia) arrived at our house. she's been staying with family just a block away while my parents and sister were with us, but now she will stay with us for the remainder of her time here in turkey. and you know? i have to say: it is such a comfort having her here. our house was feeling so empty after mom and dad left, but just looking at her sitting across the room on the couch, in her nightgown, hair freshly combed and feet propped up on the ottoman, puts my mind at such ease. oh, i love her so!
