ben and i spent yesterday afternoon preparing for our valentine's dinner party. entertaining is something i love to do-- every aspect from deciding upon a menu, to grocery shopping, cooking & decorating the house-- and luckily ben seems to enjoy it, too. yesterday he dutifully gathered the last-minute items needed to make the evening success, before helping me assemble some of our decorations:
pretty darn proud of my crayon hearts - thanks, martha!
equally proud of my flower arranging skills. maalesef, no pink or red were to be found in ankara!
we made do.
we prepared a dinner of chicken marsala with a truffled-polenta side and strawberry cupcakes for dessert, along with some other valentine-inspired treats:
brie with fig-hearts
sweetheart salad (wish i had cookie cutters, the beet-hearts looked a bit crude!)
valentine's champagne punch: pomegranate & pear juice, cointreau & champagne
tasty food and great conversation were the perfect recipe for a cozy evening spent in the company of good friends.
it was a lot of fun- but i am pleased to say ben is taking me OUT for dinner tomorrow night : )
happy valentine's day!

great pics of a very lovely evening. So glad it went off without a hitch.

Brie with figs - yes! And the table cloth is perfect. Congratulations, "Martha of Turkey"
Oh, that Dave is too funny! You are the "Martha of Turkey". Everything looked fantastic, even your beet hearts. OMG..Heart beets. Was that an intentional play on words compiled into a salad?
