this past weekend was a weekend of food. it started on friday night, when we turned the wheel of manchego cheese ben brought back from spain into fondue & shared it with friends. the cheese didn't melt entirely, for reasons we still don't understand, but it was still glorious.

on saturday we were spoiled by tom & lisa with a famous tsoupelis barbeque on their gorgeous rooftop terrace. tom estimated he cooked 75 pounds of meat (for only 15 people! they've got a freezer full). oh yeah. it was delicious, and as always, a great time.

on sunday, it was mother's day brunch with the balkaya family.
my mother's day gift was a) getting to sleep in until 9am - something i hadn't done in about 15 months or so. b) waking up to a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from my two main men
c) skyping with our aussie family, aydan & gigi, before heading to brunch
d) eating brunch (mostly drinking coffee, because even sleeping until 9 didn't cut it after the late night bbq) uninterrupted while everyone else took care of emre.
he thoroughly enjoyed eating a giant bun & biting into large cherry tomatoes. and yeah, he made a mess.
emre suffers from a lack of attention, as usual

uncle fazil can was home for two weeks - sadly, he returned to boston this morning. we really enjoyed hanging out with him while he was here. emre loves him!

the rest of the day was pretty quiet. we took a nice walk, enjoyed a quiet dinner, and got to skype with both lansfords and prices before emre's bedtime. a perfect second mother's day!
