quieting down in ankara

looks like summer's really here - supposed to be in the 90s this weekend, which isn't great for us (in an apartment surrounded by dust, with no a/c), but we'll make the most of it, i'm sure.

seems that the protests have lost momentum & are ending/have ended.  all is quiet, and just in time for ramazan, which will surely quiet the city even more, in the july heat.  ugh.

otherwise we had a great week raising our little guy, dealing with the usual trials and triumphs (and exhaustion... oh my gaaaad the exhaustion).  here are some very sweet pictures of our very sweet little boy.

home from gymboree on saturday, fell asleep in daddy's arms.

how a tired baby enjoys his peanut butter on bread (that's a 'gymbo kiss' on his hand from gymboree class)

this is the only way he knows how to open his mouth when we ask him to show us if he's finished his food.  it is hilarious.

chillin' with mommy (that bandaid was covering a scab left behind by a bruise which resulted from crashing head first into his dresser drawer.  i am very happy to report that we've gone nearly two weeks now without any injuries *knock on wood*).

playing with dede at father's day brunch

father's day cake, compliments of fusun (please note ben & emre's matching shirts - which is apparently something ben has wanted since emre was born).

the aftermath of just another sunday (we call it the 'balkaya bomb')

iphone camera = great way to kill time before bath with a cranky baby (and frazzled mommy)

his favorite spot to bring various items to hold while he sits & contemplates life: on his upside down stool in his room (always facing the window).

dinnertime fun: doing the confucius 'stache with daddy...

(ps. this kid loves peanut sesame noodles, with sirachi sauce. y'know, just your typical 1 year old food.)

...and making faces with mommy

new trick: smelling his own feet, then yelling 'puuuu!'

You and Ben are such great parents! Yes, you guys are lucky to have such a beautiful boy, but I must give credit where credit is due. You and Ben are the shizzle!

Your blog always makes my day, KT!
