some big news

well i admit the blog has been a bit lacking these past months, but it's really not because we haven't had a lot going on. on the contrary, we've been working on our biggest project yet (well, mostly i have been working, but ben's been supporting me all the way)... i just wasn't quite ready to share it here until now.

i'm pregnant! yep, i'm 14 weeks today (that's 3.5 months). we are soooo over-the-moon excited to be welcoming our first little babe in late january 2012. at our monthly check-up yesterday we were able to see baby balkaya move around and wave to us (my baybeee is so advanced! a genius, i'm sure!) via the sonogram. words cannot express just how that felt, but i will say that it is so reassuring to know there's a real live lil' person in there, developing away, making all of this discomfort sooo worth it. additionally, we learned during the sonogram that baby's growth is 1.5 weeks ahead, so, looks like i'll be carrying a big baby!

so, back to the blog being lacking... this is certainly a direct result of my pregnancy, which has not been so easy on me these past 3 months. as soon as the second month began i was hit with utter exhaustion combined with morning sickness, except it wasn't just morning- it was all day, every day, some days couldn't MOVE sickness. luckily the sickness subsided mostly in the third month (though, mind you, i'm still making trips to the bathroom each morning when i wake). the trip to the us was perfectly timed, as it came when i was feeling homesick for my family & familiarity - american FOOD - and really need a break. however on the return i've had a harder time re-adjusting to the schedule. it's amazing how everything seems 10x harder when you're pregnant!

the funny thing is, as i've shared this news with our nearest & dearest, it seems everyone already knew. our cleaning lady had a dream that i was pregnant before i'd even confirmed it myself. a friend of ours from binghamton called about a month ago to ask if i was pregnant. and several other friends & family have responded to our news with 'i knew it!' or 'i could tell by your face.' so, posting the news here seems kind of redundant. but for those of you who hadn't heard & didn't already know, there it is! our biggest news yet.
