one of the major challenges i have faced with this pregnancy is eating. either i've had no appetite due to nausea/morning sickness, or i'm utterly starving. most of the time the hunger sneaks up on me making it hard to put together a meal or think up anything to eat before i start to feel sick. ben and i realized when i first returned from my trip to the us that we needed to start cooking bigger batches of food so we could quickly heat up dinner after work, etc. when i mentioned i wished his grandmother were here with us from australia (because she takes such good care of us and cooks the best turkish food around), he decided to try his hand at preparing some of her dishes.
well, this has uncovered a little secret that ben's been hiding from me for the past 6 years: he's a great cook! he's been whipping up delicious meals for me ever since - and i am loving it. i'm not sure if it's because i'm in turkey, or if it's the little turk inside of me, but i've been craving more & more turkish food.
(husked? peeled? shucked?) fresh beans for barbuna - a cold bean salad
the master chef, chopping away
an eggplant stew
preparing his signature dish of stuffed eggplant
baked stuffed eggplants
'dolma'- stuffed zucchini

Look at him go! I wish I got to see you while you were home. But I am happy that you made it back to Turkey safely and it's great to see Ben in the kitchen.
