... in no particular order:
on friday ben & i went to eskisehir (about 2.5 hours drive from ankara) for a business meeting. along the way we were pulled over for speeding, and ben escaped a ticket by handing the officer 50 lira (common practice in these parts). he was pretty pleased with himself, as you can see.

nasrettin hoca, a turkish legend, is known for his illogical humor. we passed a rest stop on the way to eskisehir that was named for him, and had this sculpture depicting him out front.

outside of ankara's city limits is this statue of ataturk. the location is where one of the major battles were fought which ataturk led for turkish independence. the statue is placed where the battle was won, just a few km's from the city of ankara.

oh, and ben grew a beard last week. but he had to shave it for our business meeting.

last thursday i went out with some friends from my turkish class. my friend's husband was dj'ing at a local bar & we went to show our support, and to have some fun.

the road to eskisehir

ben bribing the traffic cop.

downtown eskisehir. these two kids jumped out of the white car in the middle of the intersection, while it was moving, and started pushing it down the street. you really never know what you'll see when you venture out in turkey!

I love that there is a turkish legend known for his illogical humor. what is illogical humor?
it sounds suspiciously like lansford humor.
great pics. I especially like the one of Ben escaping the law through bribery :)
