emre's 51st week (almost one year!!) started out with a slumber party. agatha, alex & stef came over on friday night and together we had all of the most important ingredients for a successful sleepover: games & pizza, and pancakes in the morning. alex brought his blanket & pillow & made his bed on the couch as soon as he arrived. he was pretty disappointed when we explained he had to sleep in the guest room so that the adults could watch a movie when he went to sleep!
playing with aunt aggie in his room
of course, as soon as they woke up on saturday, the boys got straight to work on building forts while wearing their best battle gear (blankets tied around their chests).

sir alex surveys his kingdom
can you find stef?
alex was too busy keeping things in order to pose for the camera
emre loved all the action - right up until he got walloped with a pillow. it was actually pretty funny.
on saturday i had the brilliant idea of giving emre a bubble bath - his first! i didn't know why i had never thought of it before... it would make bath time so fun!! i was excited about it all day.
well, then came bath time. i ran the bath (usually ben's job) and put in just the right amount of bubbles. i really can't tell you just how excited i was to see his reaction...
what happened to my bath?
...except that he HATED it. poor baby immediately started crying and trying to get the bubbles off his hands. bath time lasted about 30 seconds that night. way to go, mom!
yuck! it's stuck to my hands!
the rest of the week was pretty low-key. straight up family time on sunday followed by our usual work week.
my wee irish lad, just missing his pipe!
reminiscing
turns out this kid LOVES cucumbers. who knew?
picking them all out of mommy's salad bowl.
and of course licking the bowl clean
this weekend we'll be in preparation mode for emre's 1st birthday party (next weekend) and hope to check out the local gymboree. on monday we have emre's one year check-up. otherwise, we'll be taking it easy and hope you will, too. happy weekend, y'all (said in my best paula deen voice)!
