ringing in the new year, aussie style

here are some pictures that tell the tale of our new year's eve in brisbane...

renan spent the day getting ready to dj at a 'bush party.' he took off in the late afternoon with a car loaded with people and food and we didn't see him again until about noon the next day. it sounded like a pretty wild night...
aydan kept us entertained with more dancing throughout the day...
...and into the night.
aydan & anneanne prepared yet another feast, this one turkish.
after dinner ben and i put on our 'clubbing clothes' and went out to see dj noy spin in the valley at club monastery.
noy was shocked when we walked in the door (apparently he didn't really believe we would actually make it out. this might have been due to our 9pm bed time pretty much every night we were there-- but that was because of the jet-lag! really!!). he introduced us to his dj friends and got us the most delicious passion fruit cocktails, on the house. such the host!
club monastery, the hottest spot in town
i'm not sure if it was the generation or culture gap, but these kids had the WEIRDEST dance moves. it was very entertaining to watch them, though it made us feel very, very old. but we did have one thing in common: we all love dj noy!

dj noy & dominic james. in action.
after about an hour we'd had enough of the club scene and headed home to ring in 2010 with a bit of bubbley.

happy new year!
