emre's long day

yesterday was a looong day, for us and for emre!  

it started early, with us getting up and ready for the day before the cleaning lady arrived at 8:15am.

we all headed out and had a full day - starting with coffee with the girls, then heading to an appointment with the surgeon who will do emre's circumcision on saturday (!), then off to lunch at mickey's, then to the grocery store & mall for some shopping, then home to make dinner.  i was chatting on the phone with auntie verna when emre started getting fussy and i had to hang up (sorry, v!).  he didn't want to eat, but he was hungry.  he didn't want to sleep, but he was exhausted.  it was going to be one of those nights.

we gave up on the seven o'clock feeding and decided he was gassy, so we gave him gripe water (works like a CHARM 99% of the time).  it helped, but only temporarily.  he didn't want to be put down, so i kept walking him around the apartment, dancing with him, bouncing him.  around 9pm my arms felt like they were going to fall off, so i pulled out a sling.  it took him a minute, but he finally calmed down.

the only problem was, he didn't want me to sit down!  i continued walking and bouncing him while ben and i watched an episode of shameless (which is, by the way, a fantastic show for those who are wondering).

finally, just in time for his 10pm feeding, he fell asleep.  poor lil' guy.

we woke him for his bath, finally got him to eat, and then put him to bed.  the good news?  is that he slept until 6am, ate, and then fell back asleep until 9:30am.  we are both feeling nicely rested today and looking forward to getting out into the sunshine - it's 70 degrees here!
