we've had a great week here in ankara. ben's uncle adnan ('ado') came to visit on monday. ado lives in brisbane with aunt aydan, but has been here visiting his mother who lives in izmir, so he's the first of our aussie family to meet emre. it was, of course, a happy occasion!

apparently, these two will be wrestling partners one day when they take on ben & cousins renan & noyan, who've yet to beat ado 3 on 1!

though ado's visit was brief, we really enjoyed catching up with him over dinner and at the breakfast table. ado went to college here in ankara back in the day, so he enjoyed walking the city during the day and seeing his old familiar 'hoods.

ado came with plenty of gifts for emre (aussie t-shirts and a kangaroo puppet), but our favorite is emre's 'jolly jumper' and mat. we immediately tried it out & emre loves it!

emre and i have also enjoyed plenty of activities this week, including the obligatory fashion shows...

...and watching our new nanny, evelyn, cook! we are absolutely loving having evelyn around. she is so good with emre, and the fact that she is a fantastic cook certainly doesn't hurt! this week she made us malaysian style noodles (she worked in malaysia for a few years & originally came to turkey as a cook at the malaysian embassy). to put it in a word, she is awesome.

this weekend ben and i will go on our first date, sans-emre. we're going to see a movie and eat dinner... like two normal adults. i can't wait! tgif : )
